Questions for YOUth
Your questions answered!
I've never been to therapy before... what can I expect?
It's natural to feel a little bit nervous or awkward before your first counselling session. To give you a heads up, we will start with an initial 75min session, where we will ask about your presenting issues, therapy goals and history. Then, the rest is determined by you!
Don't know where to start? We'll help you figure it out with some 'getting to know you' questions in therapy, which will help us to understand what you want to work on.
What age do I have to be?
We provide counselling to people aged 12-25years, as this is what we are best at!
How do I book a session?
Call, text, email or DM us and we will get back to you asap!
Will you tell my family/friends/carers what we talk about in sessions?
Short answer: No. However, if you are at risk of harm to yourself or others, or disclose a crime, we do have a duty to report this to specilaity services and/or your family, carers, or friends. We will also keep in touch and keep your parents/carers/family members updated on how sessions are going but will not disclose details about what is said in sessions.
Do you provide Medicare rebates?
Unfortunately not, as Counsellors are not yet covered by Medicare. Please contact us to discuss fees or financial difficulty.
I'm a parent/carer/Family member... How do I get my young person to come to therapy?
If a young person is point-blank refusing to come to therapy, unfortunately, there is not much point in forcing them. This is because therapy is a two-way street and requires the client to meet the therapist halfway for any progress to be made.
However, if a young person is reluctant but there is a chance that they may attend, please feel free to contact us so that we can work through any concerns that you or the young person has!
